“Hey Mixmag readers! Tijs here checking in with you again – this time I’m blogging from Abu Dhabi, I have only been here for a few hours and I have already seen some awesome cars! I’m really looking forward to go on stage in a few hours. Finally I can make up for the gig that was cancelled at the end of last year! ‘Technical difficulties’ are a DJ’s worst enemy and sometimes these things are out of our control (Check last month’s blog for my run in with a burning speaker!)

So, you’re probably wondering what’s new in Tiësto land? Well I’ve been feeling high on life these past few weeks after you guys voted me as your Greatest DJ Of All Time. It’s a real honour and came as a complete shock to be voted among the other artists in the poll. It means so much to me, and I want to thank you all sincerely – I’ve recorded a special thank you video that you can watch above.

As usual this month has been incredibly busy, not just because of my rammed gig schedule, but also with the release my Katy Perry ‘E.T.’ remix and other tracks for which I’ve been getting loads of good feedback. I started off this week saying goodbye to NYC once again – the Big Apple really is pretty special to me for many reasons, not least because of the amazing fans and the Glo and Webster Hall gigs both rocked. As you may know from my recent blog posts I am a huge fan of the NFL. I was lucky enough to be in Dallas which was the host city for the game and I played a great show at Ghost Bar over Superbowl Weekend. I am spending a lot of time in North America this year mostly because of my ‘Tiësto In Concert’ residency in Las Vegas at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino – which, between you and me, is something else. I just announced my US and Canada tour but don’t worry, I will be hitting Europe and other locations in the summer.

Two weeks ago I played Las Vegas and wow, what a crowd. It was insane really, feeling the energy and positive vibes from the audience. Together we blew the roof off! The following Monday I was back in the Las Vegas studio, adding the finishing touches to my track with Steve Forte Rio and my new ‘Club LIfe – Volume One Las Vegas’ mix album. I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you all (again!) for your support my Diplo collab ‘C’mon (Catch ‘Em By Surprise)’ featuring Busta Rhymes. Other great news is that Hardwell and I made it all the way to number 1 on Beatport with ‘Zero76′. By the way, 076 is the postcode for Breda where Hardwell and I grew up – there’s some trivia for you! I’m humbled every time my work hits the top spots – I could never achieve that without your continued support and enthusiasm!

Which reminds me, I’m always amazed by the cool T-shirt designs that I’ve seen through the years, made by you guys. So that’s why me and my team ran a competition for the favorite fan-made Tiësto t-shirt design. And guess what? The winning design will be made into an official Tiësto t-shirt with the winner receiving $500 USD cash. We received thousands of entries and announced the winner on Feb 25th.

Plus, as en extra treat, with my facebook page about to hit 7 million fans, I’ve put together a free track called ‘Young Lions’ that I will give away fro free once we hit the big number. Thanks to everyone for all their support!

Single de Lady Gaga é a milésima música a alcançar o topo da Billboard

Pode ter sido coincidência ou um movimento friamente calculado, mas o lançamento de "Born This Way", de Lady Gaga, conseguiu um lugar na história por ter sido o milésimo single a chegar no primeiro lugar da Billboard Hot 100, uma das paradas musicais mais importantes do mundo.

A informação foi confirmada hoje no próprio site da Billboard norte-americana. Lady Gaga comentou o feito: "É uma honra tremenda ser a milésima nº 1 na Billboard. Seria bobagem se eu dissesse que esta é a maior honra da minha carreira."

Apesar das críticas e das acusações de imitar Madonna, "Born This Way" é um enorme sucesso comercial e quebrou o recorde de vendas na semana de estreia de uma artista feminina.

A música de Gaga já vendeu 448 mil cópias digitais desde que foi revelada. O recorde anterior era de Britney Spears, que vendeu 411 mil cópias digitais de "Hold It Against Me" nos dias posteriores à estreia de seu single.

Ainda assim Gaga está longe do recorde total de vendas digitais de singles na semana de estreia: 636 mil cópias. O dono deste número é o single "Right Round", do rapper Flo Rida com participação de Ke$ha.

Com 119 prêmios, os produtores do Grammy organizam anualmente uma pré-cerimônia onde são conhecidos os vencedores em 99 categorias. Entre os primeiros contemplados da noite estão Eminem, Lady Gaga, Rihanna e Lady Antebellum.

Yeshi at Doniarts play Tears in Heaven

Na apresentação da escola de musica Doniarts, Yeshi acompanhado por Henry, apresentaram Tears in Heaven, de Eric Clapton. Pra quem imaginou que DJ é somente eletro...foi uma experiencia muito boa! Apresentou tambem, Californication e Pretinha (Em breve postarei os videos das ultimas).

Lil wayne jumped on the first “Grenade” remix yet, and as expected he survives with not even a flesh wound. Weezy pulls the pin even closer to ignition to kick start Bruno Mars’ ode to harmful romances with some clever and appropriately emo bars like “Love you with a broken heart/for you I’d jump off Noah’s ark.”

Fãs acusam Lady Gaga de imitar Madonna em nova música

Após semanas de divulgação prévia na internet e uma intensa campanha de marketing, Lady Gaga lançou nesta sexta-feira (11) "Born this way", o primeiro single de seu próximo álbum, de mesmo nome. O lançamento, que por si só já seria suficiente para colocar a artista pop no topo dos assuntos do dia, ganhou ainda mais repercussão após fãs de Madonna, e da própria Gaga, escreverem no Facebook e no Twitter que a faixa imita “Express youself”, um dos grandes hits de Madonna.

Ouça 'Born this way' e 'Express yourself' e compare.

Ouvir “Born this way” e lembrar de “Express yourself” é uma associação quase imediata. Além da produção musical (batida, vocais) ser semelhante à fase de Madonna do final dos anos 1980 e 1990, a própria letra da música tem temática parecida.Além da aparição de vídeos no YouTube que comparam as duas canções, o termo “Express yourself” entrou entre os tópicos principais do microblog ao lado de #bornthiswayfriday, termo que a equipe de marketing de Gaga criou para os seguidores da artista usarem no Twitter, com o objetivo de estimular a audição da canção inédita.

Ambas falam sobre liberdade sexual e amar a si mesmo –  Madonna toma o viés da independência feminina, enquanto Gaga expande o conceito para o universo LGBT e questões raciais. Mas é a maneira como elas abordam esses assuntos que rende mais comparações.

Com as rimas, o mesmo se repete. Enquanto “Express yourself” utiliza “hey” em diversas vezes, Gaga se aproveita de “way” (de sonoridade semelhante) e, inclusive, do próprio “hey”. Em outra passagem, o tom de autoafirmação também é similar, inclusive com termos iguais.As duas começam em tom de discurso, por exemplo. “So hold your head up girl and you'll go far/ Listen to me when I say", avisa Gaga. “Come on girls, do you believe in love? ‘Cause I got something to say about it, and it goes something like this”, escreveu Madonna há quase 20 anos.

“And when you're gone he might regret it; think about the love he once had/Make you feel like a queen on a throne/Make him love till you can’t come down”, escreveu Maddona. “Don't hide yourself in regret/ Just love yourself and you're set/ Don’t be a drag, just be a queen”, diz Gaga.

Vale lembrar que essa não é a primeira vez que Lady Gaga é acusada de imitar Madonna, que, bem ou mal, serve de referência para praticamente todas as cantoras pop que surgiram nos últimos 20 anos.

Gaga apenas parece se mostrar influenciada de maneira mais explícita. Já era no comportamento, no visual e no discurso politizado. Agora também é na música.

A cantora Lady Gaga liberou para audição online em seu site oficial o novo single "Born This Way". Esta é a primeira música de trabalho do disco homônimo da cantora, que está previsto para chegar às lojas no dia 23 de maio.


A primeira apresentação ao vivo da canção será durante a cerimônia do 53º Grammy Awards.
